Who we are
Find Green Lanes (“we”, “us”) operates the map and community at
findgreenlanes.com. For any privacy question or

What we collect
- Account details — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email
address and profile picture.
- Content you create — comments, replies, private notes, ratings, difficulty grades,
lane names, favourites, direct messages, and any photos you upload (photos may contain
location data from their EXIF metadata, used to place them on the map). Public comments and
their photos are visible to other members, and photos may also appear on the public
(signed-out) parts of the site — you can turn this off any time with
“Allow my photos to appear on the public site” in your profile. Private notes (and their
photos) are only ever visible to you.
- Location — if you use “live follow”, your device’s GPS position is used in your
browser to show your position on the map. It is not stored on our servers.
- Payments — subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full
card details; we keep only your subscription status and renewal dates.
How we use it
- To provide the map, your account, and the community features.
- To run memberships and process payments (via Stripe).
- To keep the service secure and to moderate content.
- To send you a short weekly email summary of recent community activity, so you can keep
up without opening the app. This is on by default for members — turn it off any time with
“Email me the weekly activity summary” in your profile, or the unsubscribe link at the
bottom of any of these emails.
- To let you know when someone sends you a message or your activity gets a reply,
reaction or follow, so a conversation doesn’t go unanswered while you’re away from the app.
We email at most once per conversation until you’ve read it, and once a day about your
notifications. This is on by default for members — turn it off any time with
“Email me about new messages and notifications” in your profile, or the unsubscribe
link at the bottom of any of these emails. Turning it off leaves your in-app notifications
working as normal.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or
third-party analytics cookies, so there’s nothing to opt in or out of.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the providers that run the service:
Google (sign-in), Stripe (payments), and our
hosting/email providers. Map tiles and imagery are served by their respective providers
(OpenStreetMap, Esri and others).
Retention
We keep your account and content while your account is active. If you’d like your account and
associated content deleted, get in touch via our contact form.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data,
or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these,
get in touch via our contact form.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the date
above.
